In a bid to bridge the gap in the pageant coaching industry, Ocielia Gibson-Sprowl, the renowned winner of the 2012 Miss Black USA pageant, has joined forces with the National Association of Urban Etiquette Professionals (NAUEP) to introduce a groundbreaking Pageant Coach Certification program. This unique initiative aims to empower women entrepreneurs seeking to establish or expand their consulting business within the competitive world of beauty pageants.
With nearly 300,000 contestants participating in local and international pageants annually, the pageantry industry has grown into a colossal $5 billion-a-year market. Surprisingly, despite its vast size, the industry has witnessed a lack of diversity among pageant coaches, with less than 100 of them being Black and brown individuals.
“The role of the pageant coach is integral to helping pageant hopefuls win a crown and all that goes with it,” explained Gibson-Sprowl. “With most coaches earning a minimum of $50 per hour, pageantry will not only allow coaches to empower young women, but it will also help them start, maintain, or expand an in-demand coaching business,” she continued.
As a former Miss Black USA and a highly successful pageant coach with 26 national placements to her credit, Ocielia is uniquely positioned to guide aspiring pageant coaches towards launching successful businesses that can elevate their brand and increase their income-earning potential. With the industry consistently expanding its market share each year, the NAUEP’s Pageant Coach Certification aims to grant individuals from diverse backgrounds increased access to sustainable income.
The comprehensive certification program is designed to combine virtual learning, on-demand workshops, and a two-day seminar scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 11-12, 2023. During this seminar, Ocielia will be joined by other beauty pageant coaches and winners to share their expertise and insights. The workshops included in the certification cover various crucial aspects, including How to Launch Your Pageant Coaching Business, Selecting Pageant Platforms, Financing Beauty Pageants, and much more.
Ocielia Gibson-Sprowl is more than just a pageant winner; she is the visionary founder of “Slay Your Pageant,” a platform that empowers contestants to unlock their standout brand and confidence, captivating judges and ultimately securing the crown. Her partnership with the NAUEP, a leading etiquette association that provides workshops in underserved communities, is a true testament to her commitment to giving back and creating opportunities for others.
For aspiring pageant coaches and women entrepreneurs looking to thrive in the pageant coaching industry, the NAUEP Pageant Coach Certification promises to be a transformative experience. The program not only equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge but also opens doors to new possibilities and increased financial success.
