Black-Owned Feminine Hygiene Company Win 1st Place in Start Up Competition

Kushae

Meet Kimba Williams, MBA, and Dr. Barbara McLaren, a Board-Certified OB/GYN, the founders of Kushae, a feminine hygiene product company headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida. Back in August, they won first place in the TiE ACCESS startup investment pitch, an annual event committed to investing over $400,000 into startups.

Kushae is the first and only OB/GYN researched and developed full-suite of non-toxic feminine hygiene products for women at every age and stage of life. It is also the second Black woman-founded feminine hygiene company to be sold in a major retailer since its partnership began with Whole Foods Market in 2020.

The two founders are both of Caribbean descent; Kimba is a descendant of Jamaica and Dr. Barb is a descendant of Haiti.

The TiE ACCESS pitch day was created in conjunction with TiE Atlanta, TiE Tampa Bay, and TiE Carolina for minorities and women-owned businesses to compete for funding and other resources.

Along with the TiE ACCESS financial investment into Kushae, CEO, Kimba Williams will also represent TiE Atlanta, Tampa Bay and the Carolinas in Dubai, UAE in October 2021 for the TiE Women’s Global Pitch Competition.

The brand has been featured in VogueEssence,  NBC News, and other major publication outlets.
