Melora Manuka Honey – internationally celebrated for progressive and sustainable harvesting practices – gains distribution in select US stores and natural retailers. Melora – one of New Zealand’s preeminent manuka honey brands is gaining distribution in the U.S. this month in select retailers in California, Hawaii and Arizona.

“We are thrilled to bring Melora’s premium manuka honey to our American friends,” said Karl Gradon, CEO at New Zealand Manuka Group. “In a category that has been subject to misleading activity claims, the Melora brand offers a guarantee on quality, purity, and responsible harvesting practices, underscoring the most healing properties of the manuka superplant. With Melora, US consumers can feel confident toward an investment in good health.”

Manuka honey is produced in New Zealand by bees that pollinate the native “super plant” manuka bush. Research shows – when ingested – manuka honey can help with stomach problems such as H.Pylori (in in-vitro) which also links with internal health and wellbeing benefits. Additionally, more research is emerging on manuka’s prebiotic role in promoting beneficial bacteria and gut health.

When applied topically, manuka honey has been shown to have antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral and antioxidant properties. Manuka honey is a natural humectant for beauty and skin wellbeing – and has been used for its wound healing, acne care and skin infection-fighting capacities. Crucially, there are no reported cases of bacteria developing resistance to honey, nor can manuka or other honey resistance be generated in the laboratory.

“Quality manuka has been termed the ‘Swiss Army Knife’ of internal and external wellness. It’s a pantry ‘must-have,’” Added Gradon. “We hope to inspire people to live healthier lives through the powerful healing properties of our manuka products.”

The UMF™ grading system appraises natural markers found in manuka honey and assures purity and quality. As part of the UMF™ Honey Association testing process, every batch of honey must go through a series of additional checks and supporting programs to ensure adherence to the highest standards in authenticity, quality and safety. All UMF™ license holders are independently audited to meet stringent standards in terms of production, manufacturing, sampling and handling. The UMF™ quality trademark is an indication to consumers that they are buying the best, 100% natural, unadulterated manuka honey.

Particularly unique to Melora is its partnership with landowners. Understanding the need for landowners to receive a fair return for the use of their land by beekeepers, Melora created an open agreement between the landowners, beekeepers and processing company. This agreement ensures all parties receive a fair share of the profits from all honey sold. This was the first time any business had ever recognized the support of the landowners in this industry.

Available in select Costco stores in UMF 5+ and/or UMF 10+. For more information, go to: www.meloralife.com

ABOUT MELORA

The Melora manuka story began with Phil and Sharan Caskey, back in the mid 1990’s, with a vision to have the traditional Maori knowledge of the manuka plant recognized as an important and worthwhile resource for world health. Working alongside the University of Waikato in 2000, and a medical device company in the UK, Phil Caskey co-created and registered the first manuka honey wound care dressing in the world. It wasn’t till then the real qualities and unique benefits of manuka honey were first discovered, and introduced to the world.
