Friends Who Sweat Together Stay Together. New Research By Virgin Sport Reveals That Working Out With A Friend Is The Key To Achieving Fitness Goals And A Stronger Friendship.

– 35% of people say working out with someone else helps them develop a close bond

– 62% of people say they are more likely to keep up a good exercise routine with a friend & 61% of people say it helps motivate them

– Millennials are the least likely to exercise without moral support – with over 65% more likely to keep up an exercise routine if they do it with someone else

– When it comes to exercise, more than half of us (56%) would shun loved ones if their best friend was available instead

A new survey by Virgin Sport has found that when we set exercise goals for ourselves, working out with friends not only helps us to achieve our objectives, but also cements friendships. Two thirds (66%) of us in fact exercise with a friend to keep us motivated. Which friend is not a decision we take lightly either, with over 40% of us spending this time with someone we’ve known for over 10 years. In fact, 35% of Brits choose to work out in a pair to develop their bond, proving that those who sweat together stay together.

Virgin Sport Hackney Festival of Fitness on April 30th will feature the Hackney Half-Marathon, a new 5.5k run (with a buy one get one ticket option so you can bring a friend), and free fitness and yoga classes throughout the day on the Hackney Marshes.
